Hi I hope I am in the right section as this is my first post. I have a Broody Cochin and was given 8 fertile eggs for her to lay on.(We live in the city with just hens) She has been doing fine with exception that the Austoralorp (sp?) keeps going into her nest to lay her egg. Today we found one of the "fertile" eggs had broken. It was not rancid or anything but did get on the other eggs. I don't know if it was stepped on or what but again it was not a rancid egg. They have only been under her about 4 days. We pulled the eggs and cleaned the area, put the Broody in the next nest and was going to put the other eggs under her until I found out what to do with the eggs that got the yolk of the broken egg on them but then she seemed to notice the yolk and start pecking...I now have the eggs in the house for the moment by a heater as I don't know how to get the yolk off w/out damaging the bloom or what I should do now. Are all the eggs a loss now or is there a way to clean them up and get them back under her????? Any help is so much appreciated.
