my chickens are a year old and they're laying eggs that are fertile. the problem is that they won't lay on them and the eggs just keep piling up. I only have one chicken that will sit on the eggs but she already has a batch of her own. we have a male but i just don't know why they won't sit on the eggs. i have 6 chickens and 1 rooster. can someone help.

the problem is that i'm borrowing the rooster from a friend. is there a way i can force them to lay on the eggs??

Looks like it's time to purchase a "bator"!!!!! Then you can tend to them!

i have 2 buffed orphans,1 Australorp,1 Barred Plymouth Rock,2 orphingtons

It's a hormonal thing with hens "IF" they want to go broody. You can not force a hen to set. Some hens or breeds have no desire to set.

Hens pick favorite nests to lay the eggs in. I have 6 that want to use just one nestbox and I have 8 nestboxes!

so if i put fertile eggs under another hen that would sit on her eggs, would they hatch
