I tried posting this on the Buy/Sell/Trade/Wanted area, but, the website won't let me, for some reason. Oh, well. I guess I'll just give it a shot here.

I've got 18 babies in the incubator right now, but, DH said he was thinking about letting me do another hatch right after this one (

). I was wondering if anyone knows of a good egg supplier in the area (I live in Gresham, Oregon [near Sandy, Boring, Damascus, Happy Valley, Portland, Troutdale, etc. Oregon and Vancouver, Camas, etc. Washington etc.]). We got the eggs that are "baking" now from DH's aunt, but, she lives an hour to an hour and a half away. We go up to see his family often enough (his parents live on 11 acres that attach to the aunt's property), but, I thought if I could find someone closer to me, I'd get some more varieties and maybe something other than the "mutts" that we'll probably be hatching from the aunt's eggs.

We aren't planning to pay much for the fertile eggs as we can get them from the aunt for $2.50/dozen, but, if they were a breed I really want and they are close, I'd be willing to pay a little more.

Anyway, if you know of someone near me (or if you're near me), please let me know! I've got just over a week and a half on this batch. Then, I'll be ready for more!

I get my Serama and Silkie eggs from a lady in Washougal and just got some RIR eggs from another gentleman in Ridgefield to test my fridge incubator. All of my contacts have been from Craigslist ads. Just post an ad in the (For sale) under the (Farm and garden) section. I have nothing but positive results and made some great contacts. Best of luck to you.

Depends on what breeds you are looking at. The harder they are to come by...the more you will likely have to pay.
Something like a leghorn, RIR, NH red, etc. Just your typical barnyard chickens (or turkeys....or ducks....).

ETA: I'm a bargain shopper and I tend to feel guilty unless I feel like I'm getting a good deal.

Thanks!  How much do eggs run on Craig's list?  I've only ever seen spendy (to me) eggs.

The Seramas and Silkies can be but if you look some people will split the hatch with you(you get some, they get some of the hatched chicks). I have seen RIR and some other breeds from $.50 to $1 each. Just put the word out there that you are looking for some eggs and you will be surprised on how many people will help you out nd that it is not all about the money.

Thanks! I know there's a Trader Joe's around here. Maybe I'll give them a try! And great idea about splitting a batch!
FYI-If you find one with fertile eggs please post it on here and let me know. I have checked several in Vancouver and Seattle area and none of them carry fertile eggs. Good Luck.....
