Fertile Eggs and Selling

Hello everyone!

I am still learning a lot about my chickens and of course their eggs!

Someone helped me determine if my eggs were fertile or not and yes they are!! YAY!
Well to start a small step into the chicken "business" I wanted to start selling fertile eggs to locals and just the eggs in general to help pay for the cost of feed.
My girls are laying a egg a day and I have three PBR hens and one PBR Roo.

Okay, so. The big question is, where do i start in selling these fertile eggs?

My birds are not show quality i don't think "I'm new so i dont know much about showing birds"
They are 6 months old this month and have been laying going on 1 month now.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Probably the best thing to do would be to list in Craigslist that you have purebred PBR eggs available for hatching. Eggs from better quality birds will certainly command better prices. You should probably expect to get about the same as a dozen eggs sold for eating. I certainly recommend that you do not list your address, and do not allow anyone to come to your home for eggs - or you may one day come home to find all your birds gone. Meet prospective buyers at a neuteral (well populated) place.

Just a thought, if you're only going to be able to sell your eggs for close to the price of eating eggs, is it worth it to have to collect them then meet someone in a neutral place (I totally agree about giving out your address.) An easier idea it seems is to just tell your extended family, neighbors, friends or coworkers when you have eggs. You'd be surprised how many people will want eggs.
If you have only three hens you might have only a dozen eggs to sell per week, and maybe some weeks, especially during colder weather. not that many.
Plus people who want to hatch eggs generally want to do it early spring through summer so if you have good layers you will have times when you have eggs and no one wants to hatch.
Unless you want to pack up your eggs and ship them, there Is more call for eating eggs than hatching eggs.
Or....if you have a good broody or incubator, you can offer to hatch then sell the chicks. In our area there are more people wanting chicks than hatching eggs.

Alot research that I have done states that Barred Rocks go broody and ive seen alot of sites that they don't.
I personally would love to sell chicks and incubate them myself but due to finance i cant afford a incubator

I have some folks at work who want eating eggs and i thought about shipping eggs just have to look into the costs.

never would we or my other half have someone come to us for the eggs LOL to much crazy in the world these days
