Fertile Eggs

I have a drake and four ducks, three are young 5 (+/-) months old, and one duck almost a year old. The Drake is very active and the older duck is laying on a daily basis. When should I consider the eggs to be fertile or is it only when the duck starts to brood?

They should all be fertile now. I don't think it has anything to do with broodiness because some breeds are not broody much like my runners but their eggs sure are fertile!

Yes, he mates with all four ducks, although one is not as receptive as the others. I did get my first egg from one of the younger ones this morning. It was quite small and the shell was extremely thin. The shell broke while I was washing it.
