I am trying to incubate chicken eggs. Can anyone tell me what the status of these eggs are?
There are 3 eggs as shown in the pictures.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Glad you joined!

How long have they been in the incubator? Those are pretty good photos. After three days you should be seeing blood vessels if not more. I don't see anything.

Welcome to BYC!

There is no development in those eggs. Where did you get them from?
Thanks! I got them from a chicken farmer selling chicks and fertile eggs. Before that I also got eggs from a lady but she was selling them on gumtree so the eggs were probably infertile from the start. My whole passion for wanting to incubate eggs started when my father picked up 2 Dikkop eggs last week and brought them to me. I tried my best but all my attempts failed as yet. I even bought a R400 incubator for 4 eggs and the thing upped and broke on me teh 8th day! Now I currently have these eggs under an infrared 45 Watt lamp, but it seems to no avail. I was thinking of trying to build a homemade incubator out of a polystyrene box, lamp, water bowl and flakes. Don't know if you've seen it before on you tube. I unfortunately fon't have the money to support my new hobby by buying expensive incubators. I already wasted about R500 trying to hatch eggs that just failed in me because I don't have the right tools. I attached a picture of the incubator I want to build.

Hi. Yes it seems to me that they are not fertile anymore. May have been at some point. I am very new to all this. Just hope I can succeed one day. My incubator broke.

I do not. But I believe these eggs are goners. I will try again after my exams😅😓
No fertile egg will have good development if the proper conditions are not met.. They need to be 102 degrees (F) as measured at the top of the eggs in still air incubation.

I will also note that your light bulb is incandescent not infrared (which is not visible to the human eye) though I'm sure most of us got what you meant.. that it's not florescent or LED and therefore still producing a fair amount of heat.

Hope you get it dialed in and find some success, happy hatching! :fl
