Fertilization of eggs???

Hi Everyone,

I'm am new to the chicken world sort of, I've read books and did as much research as I could for about 3 years before actually getting them. Only to find out that there is tons of real life stuff that I cannot find online or in my books.

So my question is. I have a Muscovy hen (we lost the drake around the end of July). They were breeding constanly and she now has 6 eggs in her nest, is there any chance that they might be fertile?

Also I have an Easter Egger Rooster that is very fond of my Muscovy, when we were in the barn he was on top of her doing his rooster thing and she just stayed still. Is this normal and can they cross breed?

I would say there is a good chance the eggs are fertile. I would expect fertility for about 3 weeks after separation so if you lost the drake the end of July, the eggs should still be fertile until about 3 weeks after that. Sorry about the loss of the drake.

I doubt if it is "usual" for a rooster to mate a duck, but it won't result in any offspring. I guess there have been cases of a chicken and a guinea reproducing but the offspring are always sterile. Chickens and ducks are even more different so I would be really surprised if anything developed in an egg but if it did, it would be sterile and probably would not live for very long.
