fertilized eggs

How can I tell if an egg is fertilized without breaking it open (which seems to defeat the purpose). I couldn't get in to the chicken coop for about a week because of frozen ground and a wonky door (I was still able to feed and water them because the door was stuck open a couple of inches) when i finally got the door open today there was a nest full of eggs. so is there any way to find out if they've been fertilized so soon after laying? I have a rooster but he's odd, he doesn't even crow.

Well, the only way to confirm without cracking a couple open is to put them in the incubator and see if they develop or not

There is no way. The only way is to incubate the eggs which can be candled on day5-6.
