Fertilized or Unfertilized

Let me start by saying I am not sure I am in the correct thread, but here it goes anyways. I have been weighing my options about selling my eggs to offset the cost of feed. I have plenty of laying hens, but I was wondering if any of you had experience with this. I have 2 roosters in the flock and I am not sure whether people will care or even know that the eggs are fertilized. My grandfather has navel groves here in FL and sells his oranges in the grove to customers passing by. I was thinking why not throw some fresh eggs in a spare fridge and start selling them. Tell me what your opinions are please....

Sounds like a great plan. I wouldn't advertise that they are fertilized, if someone is interested enough to ask you can tell them that "yes" there is a rooster in your flock. Unless they know to look for the bullseye and thus know what fertilized fresh eggs look like they will never know the difference. Some people are squeemish about that stuff - I was at one time. I bet they will sell well if you put a sign up along with one for selling oranges. Best wishes!

I think I would just put FARM FRESH EGGS, if they ask, tell them yes I have a rooster, most people who buy farm fresh eggs think they are organic,If they free range and the customer asks if they are organic, I would tell them they free range, and you know what they eat. and ask them just what they consider organic, and explain what your chickens do and eat, most will just be happy to get fresh eggs. marrie

Very true, I appreciate all of your input. I was thinking of advertising like sundance said, but majority will rule. Keep your 2 cents comin.
