OK, I have a question, I have had my blue rooster in with my Splash hen who is in the same coop as my Calico rooster and partridge hens.

Monday, I separated my Blue Rooster and my Splash hen to be in a pen of there own, how long does it take for the blue rooster to start fertilizing the Splash eggs on a permanent basis.

I know a hen can be without a rooster for 1 month and still have fertilied eggs but would I have to wait a month before I know for sure the blue rooster is fertlizing the Splashes eggs or is it sooner?

I want to hatch out some Splash Silkies and I don't know if the eggs right now will be fertiled from the Blue Rooster or From the Calico...and I'm curious on how long I have to wait before I know for sure my blue rooster is fertilizing the Splashes eggs.

Hope this doesn't sound to confusing...

I do not know absolutely, but if it was me, and I have done this before, I would wait ten days after removal from the one rooster. However, make sure the blue rooster is actively breeding the hen.

I watched him and he surely is getting it on with her. Every morning as soon as she comes out, BOOM. it's so cute too because they are just hanging out with each other now. I let them free range a tab and they are just sticking together. I'm sure he's glad he doesn't have that competition going anymore..
