Hey y'all, I've got some issue with my male runner duck, not exactly sure what it is fully yet other than he's got what looks like ants (not 100% sure if its ants, they aren't maggots or gnats though, I know that) on his dirty backdoor. So, I was curious, cause he isn't really bathing much and things, what can I use (soap, etc) to clean this gentleman of a duckie? And yes, the duck is currently isolated from the rest at the moment.
[EDIT:] So, the duck, via closer inspection, has an injury, maggots, and we're taking care of that so duck has been taken care of, just need some advice on the baby chicks!
One more questions for ya.
1. I've got some baby chickens, about five...ish months old. Now, had sixteen, only got like six now. They keep dying and I'm not exactly sure why. They are perfectly fine one day, and then the next they can't stand, have diarrhea, ruffled feathers, and just seem very tired and unbothered by people (which usually they'll bite and make noise). A friend of mine suggested it might be something called Sudden Death Syndrome which is exactly how it sounds, but I was curious if it was something else? (These chickies are outside in a little run, we've got them from the feed store, they've had CORID because they've had coccidia once, we've given them some electrolyte things and, I believe, could be wrong, probiotics, but they still keep going back and forth from perfectly fine to death's door.)
Thank you to all and any who reply, I'll check back quick as I can! Ask any questions you wish that may help determine what is wrong with duck or chicks, thanks! Have a lovely week.
