Fighting guineas

I never knew guineas did this ... would like to get some someday but not in the plans now.

But I just wanted to say that I had a funny picture in my head too, of the guinea snatching the other one up and slinging it around. And I also liked what you said, Ozark, that yours "move as one unit" across the yard. Reminds me of my ducks, usually. I keep wanting to imagine them in little military helmets and uniforms, patrolling the yard in their waddling little "unit!"

you are so right Trish, they are like little military units, never thought of it like that before. Mine don't sound an alarm when someone/thing comes into the yard yet. Now that is what I am waiting for. All grasshoppers/ticks have disappeared from here now. Yea!! Mine follow me like puppies when I want them to go to their pen. Hope that lasts!!

Carrie, if they're trained to treats it will keep happening. Mine come running when they see me near their coop or just before bedtime, they know there's something good to be had if they show up.

Only Momma with her keets. She actually got hold of my pants leg one day. Glad I wasn't bent over any further or I might have needed stitches.

Yeah its actually prety hillarios it always makes people laugh when they hear that story. They get along great right now though, now that they all know which ones are the bosses.

They really do look like little spotted helmets walking around . Thats one of the reasons I love guineas.

Well, my guineas found the chicken coop this week. No problem though, kind of weird. They run ahead of me in the morning to see the chickens come out of their coop then when the chickens are out they go in and have breakfast! I think they think it is their "quick stop". Then they roost on the chicken's roosts for nap time. when I go in they run out the little door while I collect eggs and watch me from outside. When I leave they return to the coop for awhile. sometimes there are chickens in there eating and laying but they don't bother them at all. so far so good. I haven't seen/heard any more "guinea fighting" so I hope that is over. They get along fine with the chickens so far, in fact they hang out the entire day with the chickens and the ducks.
How is it going Okie?? I was wondering if the attacks were still happening?
