Hi Everyone:

We haves been duck parents since March. We have 3 Perkins that we genuinely enjoy. This past week two of them have been attacking and bullying one of them. I can’t figure out why, plenty of food, water etc… Any ideas?

Hi.

Could you post pictures of your ducks?
So we can see, with our own eyes, if your bullied one seem unhealthy...

• How old are your Pekin ducks, exactly?

• Are they, originally, from the same place?

• What gender are they?

• How big is their pen?

• Can they freerange during the days?

• What do you feed them?
And do they have an unlimited access to their food - even during the nights?

• Do you give them grit?

• Do they have access to a pool to swim?

• Have you noticed any worrying change/symptom in your bullied duck?
(Does he appear depressed or lethargic, for example? Does he, perhaps, look sick to you?)

Hi ducks are wonderful but they do fight sometimes and mating can look like they are trying to kill each other. Please answer @Papaye ’s questions that will help us know what’s up. My main concern with your ducks right now is that you might have two males and one female which can be a deadly combination if this is what’s going on and they are both trying to mate her you may need to separate her from them (until maybe you can get more females or less drakes) but first we have to know truly how many are males and/ or females,
Do you know how to tell by their voice? Only females QUACK loud and clear! Males have a raspy voice that sounds more like Cree Cree and their tail feather may possibly have curled by now, but it may not have yet and even sometimes a Drake won’t have a curly tail feather yet by 3 months old . So yes, pictures would be very helpful and even a video if you can make one of what they sound like to post a video on here first you host it on another site such as YouTube or Vimeo and then post the link here.
In the meantime, if the bullied one looks injured, if there is any blood or eye injuries or limping or big, bald spots, please separate in a place where she can still see the other others, but cannot be touched

They where born in March.

All are related.

They free range all day.

They’re fed purina duck food and get corn peas watermelon and worms.

I’m not sure their sex, no eggs.

No grit but will get it today.

Pen is pretty big. They only go in at night and I let them out first thing in the morning.

They each have their own pools.

I’ll post pictures

No change in the bullied one’s behavior. They’ve all gotten more vocal and are eating less dry food
