Final Incubating Day For Coturnix Eggs.

You want them dry and active before you move them (preheat the brooder if it's not warm enough yet). When it's time to move them work fast, I let my humidity drop too far and some died in shell because I took too long during transferring. So get your supplies get set and then open the bator for under a minute.

I'm so happy for you! It always seems like when your about to give up they start popping out. I have never seen an egg move although I have heard faint chirping in eggs but not as often as I did with the chicken eggs.

I leave them in the incubator for 1 hour to 4 hours. You can leave them longer but I would not let it go over 24 hours. Chicks can be without food for something like 3 days but do not store moisture and need fluids before they require food. They should be good up to 24 hours. I usually transfer them when they are fluffy and walking well. I have heard of others who move them immediately after hatching into a pre heated brooder but I personally don't like to do this as they are exposed to to many differences while still wet and I feel like the incubator is working while risk it

Congrats! See one of the variables is temp. Like also if you have incubating in a cold room like say maybe 65 or 70 you're more likely to have the hatch at day 18 or later. I live here in vegas where temp raises up to maybe 110 to 115 deg. so my family inside my house like to keep it at 65 but at night when it cools off it goes even colder inside the house which affects incubator temp and slows down embryo development slightly. So I'd say if you want your eggs to hatch closer to the date they suposed to just put your incubator in a room that has more constant room temp about 80 maybe depends on your climate. Hope I didn't get you confused:cool:
