Hello to everyone in this fine community!

I have been posting in the Emergency thread for the past two weeks about a chicken who was attacked by a hawk and finally got around to introducing myself.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes! I took over my sister's egg producing flock of about 60 (mostly hens with 4 wonderful roosters) as part of rent.
I have been taking care of them since around May of this year.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
62

(3) What breeds do you have?

Mostly ISA Browns, 2 Plymouth Rocks, 4 Buff Orpingtons, some Rhode Island Reds, 2 DELIGHTFUL Brahma Roosters, 2 what I call regular classic roosters 🐓,
one white chicken who is 9 YEARS old (supposedly) and probably a few I do not know the breeds of.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Chickens are FASCINATING. I have truly fallen in love with them and will always have chickens now, can't wait to be able to start my own flock.
Taking care of them doesn't really feel like work, even though it is actually ALOT of work.
I enjoy learning about their behavior and psychology and they are definitely NOT as stupid as they want people to think. (Edited to add: actually yeah, some are actually not exactly geniuses either though, LOL)
I TRULY enjoy just watching them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I love nature and hiking, love to forage and learn about mushrooms and herbs,
CATS CATS CATS, and now CHICKENS.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am close to family and feel very blessed for that :)
I prefer solitude and enjoy the quiet of the woods.
I have two cats currently, P-Nut is a house cat that lives with me exclusively and Cutie the barn cat who wants to live with me but P-Nut is against this....it's being worked out slowly..

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

If you HAVE ANY chicken questions and Google them, BYC is always the trusted and standard source that gives you a plathera of answers.
Plus, it's a community of like minded people, which is awesome. I hope to one day learn and know enough to pass the knowledge on to people looking for information as well..which is the best form of currency IMHO
