Finally! A Pip! HATCHED! PICS ADDED!

Wont it be just as exciting if lil' silver chick is a boy, since breeding a splash to a blue or black gives you more blues? Is that true or did I just make that up?

Nope, has to be a girl or he has to be sold.

Yes, if I kept him to breed, bred to my blue girls, I would get blues and splashes and bred to black, I'd get all blues; however, I have Suede and I'm not planning to keep another Orp rooster.

I thought we all agreed it was a pullet...lol

I can remember hoping so badly my only blue orp would be a pullet. I can also remember standing in the yard staring in disbelief as she started to crow...lol. Now I look at him and it doesn't matter but at that moment I was sooooooooo disappointed.

Now if he'd just get all his tail feathers in nice and pretty...lol

They're all beautiful and I love my roosters. The splashes are interesting because you don't know what they'll really look like till they start to get their "splashy" accent feathers. I've hatched two of them before, both boys, both adorable. One was Suede's brother and I almost chose him, but I really wanted a blue tank of a rooster.

I sure hope Caroline's chicks in the brooder are girls, Adam.Wow, those have to be the biggest chicks that ever came out of normal sized eggs! They are incredibly big and round with the furriest little legs. One of them has much better feathering on its legs than its mom.

Isn't life grand, and to think it was only yesturday that mine hatched and now they are laying eggs of their own.
