At long last one of our White Leghorns has laid an egg. They are 25 weeks old. The first of the 3 began the red comb/wattle thing in August, so we waited a lot longer for this than we thought we would. Yesterday one of the nests was definitly heavily used - a very noticable indentation in the middle. This morning when DH went out to open up the coop, there was the egg under the roost - I guess she couldn't wait the whole night. It was a perfect little egg - and delicious! The yolk was so much more orange, and higher/firmer than store bought eggs.
Edited - O my gosh! Number 2! In the nest! Same day!
