I have wanted my own chickens since I was a little girl on my grannies farm. I am now in my mid 60's and we go our first 5 chickens last night. I am looking forward to fresh eggs. I am really excited about finding this group and am looking forward to all the information.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You have come to the right place for all the learning and chicken chat!

And congrats on your new flock! Give them time to adjust to their new home. If they are of laying age, they many take a break from laying for a while as they adjust to their new surroundings. Chickens don't like to be rehomed. So move slowly around them, talk quietly and keep the stresses down for a while. Keep some fake eggs in the nest boxes so they know where you want them to lay. If you plan on free ranging, you might keep them confined in the coop and run for a few days so they stay relaxed and known where home is.

You will definitely want to stop by our learning center for lots of good articles on all the aspect of keeping your new birds...

Make yourself at home and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!
