You know what, just do it. I'm kinda new at this, but my friend works in the poultry science dept at NCSU and they regularly keep eggs stored for 2-3 weeks before setting them... with little or no loss in hatchability. And she works with broiler eggs! I did my own experiment here with my own chickens. I collected 12 eggs and stored them (big end up, styrofoam carton) on a shelf in the laundry room where it its fairly dark and cool. We marked all those eggs with the date. Then we waited 2 weeks, and collected again, dated them. And heated up the bator. We set them all at the same time, and then kept track of which eggs hatched. Statistically, we saw no difference!

Anyways, what I mean to say is... it's worth a try!!

Thanks snugglepup. That gives me hope I can get at least a few to hatch. I know my cornishx hens are getting up there in age( for them, they are almost 6 months old) And I was wanting to get a few before they pass on.

I am sorry to hear your chicks died. Did a predator get them? I have been eagerly waiting any news ever since you put the eggs in an incubator. How you got a meat bird to live for 6 months is amazing in itself. What did you do to get them to live for so long? Maybe you might be onto a new breed of meat chicken that doesn't have the medical problems of a cornish x. I would continue this experiment. If your present hens pass away maybe with a new batch. Who knows you could change the poultry industry. Keep up your good work.
