I finally got my coop finished and secure enough to bring my chickens home. My friend at work that I bought them from has been continuing to take care of them until I got my coop finished.
I am now the proud CARE TAKER of 4 red sexlink hens,5 newhampshire red hens, a beautiful rooster of each breed, and to my surprise when I arrived to load them his dad had me 2 Domineque (spelling?) hens that are 4 years old. They are a little past their prime as far as egg laying goes, but they are healthy looking and are absolutely beautiful. I have always loved dom's. They are what I remember from way back when on the farm. They are all very relaxed, with loading and unloading from cage and hauling home.
Just checked on them right at dark and they are settling in on their roost as they should. FUN, FUN,FUN. Can't wait to check in on them in the morning before I go to work!
