Yeah, now you tell me! I'm laughing so hard. I didn't even think of that. Not sure it would've helped. Short story here - There was a small area around the back deck of the house that was a bit bare... about 10 feet long and I decided a small flower garden about 1-2 feet wide would fill it in nicely. First summer in this house and first experience with New England soil, as our old house had all the gardens it needed. I'm originally from central PA.
So anyway, I get the mantis rototiller out of the shed and start tilling. This was about 1pm, just after lunch and I figured I'd have it dug and planted by mid-afternoon. SIX HOURS later!!! Not kidding. Six. Freakin'. Hours. To till up a flowerbed 10x2. The rocks I was pulling out of there now make a nice addition against the deck. Our town is called Killingworth but the joke is it's Killingrock. Ledge. Ledge. And more ledge. I don't know how the early settlers did it - hence all of the random stone walls one finds in the woods and along country roads up here. Crazy I tell ya! I'm crazy but I'll be ****** if some critter (racoons, coyotes, fisher's, weasels, hawks and owls just to name a few) is going to get one of my girls because I was too **** lazy to dig that freakin' trench! LOLOL!!!
Jim now knows I'm insane - wanting the chickens and all, but digging that trench sealed the deal. LOL! He tells me even if we break up (after 14 years not likely) he'd have to keep me around for the entertainment factor. LOL!
So the deal is, I start with 4 and then in a couple/few years when they slow down laying I can get a couple more. As somebody on here said, (I can't page back without losing this) like a bag of chips, ya can't have just one!
