FINALLY got something for in my tank!

Well, today I saw a little 1/4" bug darting through my tank. I grabbed my siphon to try to suck it out. With my amazing skills (lol) I finally caught it. Turns out, I have a salamander larvae!!! I am confused by it though. I have not seen them mating (I think I read that they mate in the fall), but I have not seen any eggs either. I really don't think I caught an undetected, TINY larvae and introduced it with the rest, because it is/was winter when I got them (in fact, I had to walk out on the ice to get them) and because I was picking everything out of the net with my hand.

my dad and sometimes me like to keep a tank of minnows we catch out at our creek for fishing but they always get way to dirty and i have a spring that i can dig around and theres always millions of salamanders hiding under the soft dirt and moss there ive tried to keep them when i was a kid but i couldnt get them to eat the live bugs i dropped in so they never lasted long and i gave up as for toads i use to feed them house spiders when i was like 7ish untill 1 of the spiders bit me not posionus at all just freaked me out so i got a metal rod from the underside of my bunkbed and started beating the spider seperated its head and it was still crawling around so i am still freaked out about spiders

I know you stated you didn't have money but this site is very cheap on crickets. I have ordered from them for my gecko before he passed away. For 50 live crickets that you can pick the smallest size (3/16 inch) and the shipping is only $6.95. Only problem that I had was the mail man put them in the mail box during the winter and they freezed before we knew we had them. They have different types of worms and fruit flies besides some other stuff. Even have hissing cockroaches.

Thank you Rev, I'll have to check them out. I can always order a batch, feed some and hold back a breeding colony.
Redhen, I was worrying about the same thing. The parents are voracious little monsters. I've been trying to keep everyone well porked up just to try to avoid any catastrophies.
Salamanders and the tadpoles hide in the muck at the bottom of swamps. If you "net dip", you can find small fishes and all kinds of critters in the weeds that dangle into the water from the bank. This is how I've always caught critters. It's the same with the tadpoles/'manders. They were a little different, as it was goop instead of weeds, but, same concept.
