I don't know what your predator situation in your area is, but you might want to think about putting hardware cloth over the windows. Regular window screen won't stop a lot of predators like coons and even determined cats.

My backyard is surrounded by a 6' stockade fence and I have two dogs, an English Bulldog and German Shepherd. Except for an occasional squirrel and groundhog who venture in for some acorns, the yard is pretty secure. In the spring, I'm going to be putting in more shrubbery and plantings for them to take shelter under. We DO have an occasional hawk.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments! I'm really hoping that they'll find their way back inside and I won't have to go on a hunt for chickens tonight!
