Finally I get to try my hand at CHICKENS

Hello Everyone,

It's taken a while for me to talk my wife into letting me have chickens and it's finally happened. I'm 32 currently living in Louisiana, but moving back to New Mexico in late October. I welcome any helpful tips and tricks to getting my new hobby/lifestyle off the ground.

I don't have any chickens yet. I'm still researching and building my coop. I'm not sure what kind of chickens to get since we are moving to the high desert.

You may want to ask questions on the New Mexico thread. Chickens tolerate cold much better than heat, so it would be best to ask what breeds do well in NM & what they will require to get them through the hot weather. Just put the state name(for any state you want) in the search box and they will pop up/
