Instead of hunting around the website and wanting to be a part of it all....I did it.
I am a lover of all animals, especially horses, and found my way being interesting in chickens after a few game chickens were at my barn (by help of my brother in law). Now I am an owner of 2 beautiful Cochin hens (Flo and Hazel) and 1 mean Cochin rooster (Godzilla). Just lost my sweetest hen (Daisy) to who knows what. Didn't realize how much I enjoy them until I lost one.

Wanting to improve coop made out of metal trampoline and old satellite dish (think back in the 80's), and most importantly, add to my chicken family.

I love animals too! And I have a chicken named Flo also (it turned out to be a boy however

). I'm really sorry about Daisy.

Hi Ashley, nice to meet you. Welcome to Backyard chickens. Cochins are generally such a nice docile breed, even the roosters. Maybe Godzilla is the ONLY bad one in the breed.

Glad you could join the flock! I too love all animals and would have Noah's ark if I had more room. I have a horse also, an ex racer called Harry who I've had for 12 years now. Lots of chickens and chicks too as I'm an incubating addict and just can't stop myself. I've not kept Cochins myself but have read good things about them. Sounds like Godzila is a handful for you.

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes! I have 2 small boys and I am sitting up right now trying to soak up new chicken knowledge instead of sleeping while my boys sleep :D
