- Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I had chickens twice as a youngster, around my middle school years. The first batch was a hen and rooster that were Easter Eggers, but heavily favored their Ameraucana genes. The second batch was two Silver Laced Wyandottes. I'm going to get my first chickens as an adult in the next month.
- What breeds do you have?
- I'm getting two Ameraucana pullets and two lavender Orpington pullets very, very soon.
- What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- I wanted to get chickens again because I missed how funny they are, and how mine used to follow me around the yard and hang out with me. I'm looking for a way to spend more time outside, and I miss having blue eggs.
- What are some of your other hobbies?
- I'm trying to start gardening. I have a balcony container garden and two new plots in the community garden. I'm also trying to learn how to crochet to make endless doilies. I like to read, do online research, hang out with my cat, and do DIY things/crafts. I'm working on painting some miniatures for a board game, but that's a means to an end and not a hobby I particularly enjoy.
