Hello!
My name is Jessica. I live in the Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada. I live on an acreage that was also where I grew up. We’ve had chickens for almost 20 years, but I was not really involved until I moved back about 2 years ago. At that time we had a Rhode Island Red (she passed of natural causes at an old age) and two others (they’re quite a bit older, I’m not sure of breed). I have slowly added another Rhode Island, 2 Plymouth barred rock hens, two black hens, and a fancy looking rooster.
I’m not sure what breeds all of them are, but I have 8 in total. I’m currently in school to be an elementary school teacher, and I really just love having chickens. I plan to get a few ducks and a couple of pigs in the future. I also have two cats, and three large dogs! All of my spare time (and cash) goes to my pets. It’s my only hobby outside of gardening.
I’m looking forward to getting to know this community better! It’s offered me such great advice in the past, and hopefully I can help out some others with my experiences.
PS I attached pictures of my lovely chickens. Bonus points if you can tell me their breeds!
