Great to hear. Just remember this is all new to them so it will take some time for them to get use to something different. But your keeping them safe that is what's important. They are doing ok for now. Haven't eaten much and I fortified their pen a bit more. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Thank you for caring!
Thanks Adalida, that looks great, gonna try it.Here's an idea for a feeder which won't be as messy and is easy and cheap to make. Basically you get a bucket, tote, or box and cut holes for them to stick their heads into and eat.

Are they eating the same feed you fed them before you locked them up?Ok my new friends, I'm getting a bit worried that the ducks are hardly eating anything compared to what they used to. I took a lawn chair out today and sat in the outer pen with them but they still didnt eat although they did all lay down and sleep.( That was boring) lol It's getting down below zero tonight and 2 of them seem to shiver more than the others. How long can they go in that temperature without eating? I've tried everything. One or two of them may have taken a piece of tomato or a kibble but thats it.
On another note, I named 2 of them. The only 2 I can pick out of the crowd. One is Dot cuz she has a black dot on her head. We used to think she had an extra eye lol. Then there is Curly cuz his tail feathers curl up a lot. One bops his head up and down a lot so I'd call him Bopper but can't always tell him from the others.
Also, I read about someone taking a 20oz bottle and filling it with saltwater and putting it in the water bowl and it would keep it from freezing. That worked great. Glad to have one bit of good in all this. When I was sitting with them I played the radio. Don't know if they liked it but they did listen to it.Lol
Sometimes they nip at each other too, why do they do that? Questions , questions questions......
Thankyou, I'll try them on my dog's kibble maybe they'll like it better. I'm trying to feed them outside the run cuz its so small and I dont want predators trying to get to whats left on the groundwhen I coop them up.Are they eating the same feed you fed them before you locked them up?
Nipping is natural they are just like children and will pick on each other.
As for eating Are you feeding them outside or in? I am not sure what else you can try maybe warm water mush? I'd go for a small amount first because it's going to freeze quick at your temps. But my ducks love what I call duck soup. In the evening before I put them up any feed that is left I put into a bowl and make it soupy with water they drink it up.
Course this is my Runners and Buffs my Muscovy's aren't impressed. Mine also love grain free dog kibble.
Cute names..
I wouldn't my ducks will nibble on things just make sure they are out of drafts they will be okay. We're going to be down around 0 tomorrow night only singles tonight I don't have heat in my duck/chickens houses.Worried about the temperature drop tonight. Would it be ok to put a few hand warmers inside the coop with them?
Everything is so new to them and ducks don't take to change very well. But they learn routine so once they feel comfortable with everything in their lives now they will settle down and eat.Thankyou, I'll try them on my dog's kibble maybe they'll like it better.
