Hi Everyone.
I refer and peek at this website tons for help since I am new to the world of poultry, decided it was time to breakdown and finally sign up.
I argued with my husband for ten years that I would NEVER own any type of bird as I'd never had any interest in them and (ashamed to admit) a little freaked out by them. HAHA
I went to pick up some livestock last fall and while there this fella figured it would be funny to send home two chicks for my kids since he knew how I felt about the whole situation...I brought the little brats home anyway (both ended up being roos), and from there it's been out of control. I bought some laying hens off my neighbour cause I wanted some eggs asap, then I was buying up hatchlings like crazy of all these cute little breeds I wanted to try out and NOW, big surprise - the kids and I have the incubator running and are set to have have our own in the next couple weeks.
I presently have about 35 birds taking over the farm which extend to ducks and turkeys as well. It's ridiculous really cause I'm enjoying the heck out of these little guys!
Anyways, here I am, I'm off to post about my cochins, hope I can get it figured. Good work BYC, I really enjoy this site.
