(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My mom had chickens when I was a teenager/younger adult and I loved them. When we finally bought a house 9 years ago, I was so excited to find out that we were allowed to have chickens. I wanted to get some but my husband wasn't on board, and then I had a couple young kids to take care of and decided to shelf the idea.
Then 2020 happened and I decided to start doing things I've always wanted to do because life is short. I almost changed my mind at the last minute but my husband told me that I'm always regretting things before I even do them šŸ˜…. True. So I went ahead and got my chicks. I jumped in with both feet, not totally prepared, but I'm figuring it out.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 5

(3) What breeds do you have? Lavender orpington, black jersey giant, barred rock, salmon faverolle, and a silver laced wyandotte

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? They are so entertaining! I just love their little antics ā˜ŗļø

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I have so many hobbies. I love to knit and crochet, paint, build things, make quilts, all kinds of random arts and crafts.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm married with 4 kids, ages 6-18, we have been homeschooling since the oldest started kindergarten. We have 7 various parrots, a fish tank that we all hate, and a trio of rabbits that we intend to breed for meat.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D. I think I came across byc via Google looking for coop plans. Just joined. Pretty excited about that 😊
