Finally starting on my coop!

Pics
Wow, I read this entire thread with enthusiasm on your behalf. What a lovely place you live in and what a fantastic job in building a coop and run on such a challenging terrain. I enjoyed your posts and your pictures and appreciate your humor. You've got this 'nailed' right down to the plantings before the birds take residence. Great job. You may want to consider writing and submitting an article on how to build on a slope. Thanks for sharing your journey. Can't wait to read about your new girls and their life in the woods. Congratulations.
Wow, thank you so much!

Just wanted to add a coop update since we've been taking the new chicks for field trips. I made a big miscalculation with the door, which swings inward not really leaving room for a ramp into the coop. The door is solidly in place, so reversing it wasn't an option. I ended up building little stone paver steps cemented together with contractor's adhesive. Yesterday, the chicks (3 1/2 weeks old) decided it was time to try them out, and they hopped up with no problem. They had to stop to admire themselves in the mirror, though.

They are also really enjoying exploring the run. It's raining like crazy today, but I'll take them out again next time it's dry.
