Hi i have got some zebra finches they have just had 3 chicks they are about 3 to 4 weeks old not 2 of them are dark gray and one is almost pure white. I think i read somewhere that when they hatch they are all the same coulor is they white one special so it will stay white or are the 2 colours male and female? I dont think your able to tell the diffrence till 9 months when they have there first molt. Any help will be greatfull i just want to know if the white one will stay like that?

Wow they are beautiful! I recall your post from when they were just eggs. Looks like the parents did a great job! I think it will stay white.

I have a white zebra finch hen, and apart from being much larger than most zebra hens, I don't think she's worth any more money. I paid the same for her that I did for the others. However, she is an egg-laying machine!

Hi! Yes, it is "special" in that it is a white Zebra Finch. If it is a male, then it will get the orange cheek spot like Okiechick mentioned. It won't get any darker. The other two could get a little bit darker with their first moult. When their colors come in, you should be able to tell what you have. Just by guessing, I would say that the first one is most likely male, and the other two female. No promises! The first one just seems to have a little more detail around his beak than the other two. See how he has 2 bars/stripes rather than just the one?

Beautiful babies! Congratulations!

My sister has some finchs sitting on eggs right now and she is wondering how she should feed them and the parents. Is there anything special you have to do for them? Any help would be great, these are her first eggs.
