Finch Egg Incubation ( Strawberry finch)

Any one every try artificial incubation of Strawberry finch egg ? Please share me some information. My Hens lost all feathers, so I am thinking to incubate artificially. My first concern is temperature and humidity. What should be the correct temperature

I've actually bred Strawberries before. Are these wild-caught birds, or are they F1 or F2 captive-bred birds? Do you have current photos of your set-up and the birds. Strawberries like most waxbills prefer to line their nests with white feathers. It's possible she used her own to line the nest. Handfeeding finches is notoriously difficult. It's very easy to aspirate them and often time they appear to die for no reason. I would recommend doing a lot of reading. There is also a Facebook group for Strawberries and Gold-breasted Waxbills although the name has escaped me at the moment.

Yes I let it go with the parents, not intervening with them. lets see.

I am new in this forum. I brought 2 years ago 2 pair of strawberry finch. It is not clear that they are wild caught or captive. I did't ask the seller. parents incubating the egg now. I tried to take picture, they are not stable for a sec and other time female in the nest box. I will update. thanks for your advice. I found good information in finch forum.

Awesome. They are really cool birds and there is some great information there. I'd recommend offering soft foods like boiled egg food to the pair throughout incubation and rearing of the clutch. The NFSS (National Finch and Softbill Society) is another great resource. I am a member and purchase closed legbands from them in order to band chicks to prove their age and captive-bred versus wild-caught status. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am wanting to get into breeding finches and I want to know will all finches lay and sit on there eggs?

That really just depends on the species. Some will incubate but not feed their chicks if certain conditions aren’t met. Which species are you looking at keeping and breeding?

With my little experience of 5 different species of finch, all of them laid egg and successfully incubate chicks.
