finches

HI, I have eight finches, 4 female and 4 male. They have a large cage but they are Very messy and I want to rehome 4. Can they be split up ? I don't know how we would be able to pick out "pairs" to rehome. I am open to having just boys or girls. I just don't want to so many and don't want to do anything that hurts them. Any suggestions? thanks!

We had finches many years ago. We purchased a roll of velcro and took an old curtain that fit around the bottom half and velcro'd it around it. That helped immensely!

You should be able to see the difference in males and females in that the males are the brighter, more colorful ones, and females are a bit duller looking. If you must rehome half, I guess I'd try choose one male to part with if not two of each sex.

Thanks! I can totally tell the difference between the sexes lol! I am wondering if they pair up and what happens if their partner is rehomed and they are not, does that make a difference? Does that make sense? I am guessing they don't mate for life? i've never had finches before. thank you for responding!
