My Coop
My Coop
I was thinkin I want to just build my own coop. So I went out and priced everything and it was going to cost a freaking large amount around $500/600 when ALL is said and done. I tried looking for free wood and pallets but the ones that were on Craigslist were crap and wouldn't be worth using.
So I went searching online.
I went to one ladies house that was on Craigslist and she said I could come take a look at her coop. It's a DYI kit that was $200. You still had to purchase a few items but it would be less than $300. I was polite and it was not going to fit my needs. No real safe place for the hens to be, not good for cold weather, cleaning would have been a pain. So no go there.
I am finding my girls sleeping in the nesting boxes because it's way to small In the stupid coop. I'm desperate! I ha less eggs today too!
SO, I Found CConly.com with a killer sale. $600 coop that is 6ft by 5ft with four nestin boxes pull out poop trays an a nice long lasting design.
I really hope that it is worth it! Keeping fingers crossed man!

Keep us posted! I gave up the search and put mine in my barn for the very same frustrations. You might need to reinforce or tweak here and there, but that's way better than starting with a pile of wood and frustration! Post some pics and reviews!

I will! They had YouTube videos on how to assesble the coops song harvest helpful to see what your getting into. They also custom make coops

We bought this one and it arrived last week. I have the pieces together and we just finished waterproofing. However we don't have it stacked yet. I bought the extended run with the lift. I don't have a barn and hubby doesn't do wood work it's what we will have as long as it will last. I took a few shots while we were putting it together if you're interested.

Looks to be made of poplar ..... better keep that weatherproofed!

I would think that for 600 bucks, you could make a really solid 8x8 chicken coop.

"Coop (64"L x 53"W x 44" H)"

..... appears to include the distance the nest boxes stick out inthe "53"W" dimension..... and those are OUTSIDE dimensions.

Will Hold up to 12 Hens or 18 Bantams
(Varies, depends on breeds, please see coop floor plan dimensions and make your own decision)"

....... Hmmmmmm!

Watch the youtube video from their site. That is one tiny coop. 44 inches is 3'8", and the thing is taller than it is wide, if you don't count the nest boxes....... lose a couple of inches for the walls....... you are looking at 5'2" by maybe 3'4" wide for floor space. That works out to about 17 square feet ..... plenty of room for 4 chickens ..... How many did you have?

It's made from fir, pretty thin. I will move the roosts because they're too low and I wish one wall was fixed so I could clean better but....it is what it is. FIngers crossed it works until I can do better or adapt this one to work more like I want.

Really thin, screw in the screws slowly or it will split.

The height still needs to be added into place.
