Finding a coop shouldn't be this hard!

I will keep my other coop and just add this one and call it good! I have a real broody hen and I want to put her in the small coop to hatch eggs for people I know who new hatching ))

I agree the amount they say is never right! But I think I am going to incorporate my old one with my new one and call it good! I can easily get 8 hens comfortably but only want six
..... appears to include the distance the nest boxes stick out inthe "53"W" dimension..... and those are OUTSIDE dimensions.

Watch the youtube video from their site.  That is one tiny coop.  44 inches is 3'8", and the thing is taller than it is wide, if you don't count the nest boxes....... lose a couple of inches for the walls....... you are looking at 5'2" by maybe 3'4" wide for floor space.  That works out to about 17 square feet ..... plenty of room for 4 chickens ..... How many did you have?

Still in the process of putting it together. The run will go next to the coop on top of the extra height. Now...if we'll just not have so much rain when I'm off so we can get it done.

I LOVE this coop! Nesting boxes are a bit snug but my hens like it snug. The run is only good for 4 hens, but I have an extended run that creates a 44 square foot space. Coop is great for 8 hens PERFECT for backyard chicken keeper

Your math is fuzzy ....

Rule of thumb is supposed to be 4 square feet per chicken for the coop, and 10 square feet per chicken for the run. Those are suggested minimums for standard sized birds with average confinement tolerance.

By those standards, your coop and run would be enough for 4 standard size breed chickens ( 17 sq. ft coop, 44 square ft. run)......

I ment 144 sq feet for the run plus two other areas 5x5 with dust bath area

Is that a question or a statement?

Either way, "I" do not " figure (you) can have 6-8 hens comfortably" in a coop that has about 17 square feet of floor space.

With four hens it looks pretty roomy and since I have a huge run (total 194 square feet) , 4 nesting boxes, four roosting bars that would fit two per bar comfortably , I think it's ok for up to 8 hens max. I read 4 square feet if they spend time in the coop a lot but my hens don't use the coop unless they are sleeping or laying. Also I have a huge covered part for them so if it rains they can be dry.
Not 12-18 hens for sure, that's a load of crap. Since I have been looking it's always half of what they advertise. 12-18 is really 6-8/9.
