I have a very young flock of 8 hens. The oldest is one year. The rest are either fairly new layers or not laying yet. Yesterday I found 3 small eggs that all looked like they were from the same hen (color, size). One was in the run. The other two were just outside the run. I have 5 nest boxes. I monitor the nest boxes and clean daily if I have to. The nesting material is straw with a tablespoon of nest box herbs added. Is this is a behavior that is problematic? Will it change as the flock gets older? Anything more I should be doing?

It is not uncommon for new layers to have egg-cidents in which they lay in all sorts of strange places. Usually, they find their way into the nest boxes, especially if there are eggs already in it (fake or real)...:)
