Hi, I have a 2 year old Blue Lace Wyandotte, who laid an egg on the floor of the coop. About a week later we found one of her eggs outside of the coop/run at the edge of some bushes. A couple of days later we found another one in the same place. Now this evening we found one of her eggs in a tree. Not sure what to think or how to prevent this from continuing. We are putting a roof on the run, but it is not quite finished. Would a chicken fly out of the run, lay an egg and then fly back in the run before we notice her out of the run? Do chickens lay eggs in trees?

Welcome to BYC.
Had hens fly into the run/coop to lay. Do not see why she could not fly out, lay, then back in. Never had one lay in a tree though. As chickens do not make nests and tree branches are usually round I would think most eggs they drop in trees would continue down and go splat. Any possibility that some one saw the egg on the ground and put it in the tree?

I would want to know, why isn't that hen laying in the coop nests?

Does she need to be re-trained?.....
....or is she being bullied away from using the coop nests?
....is there something unsavory(to a chicken, ie:pests) about the coop nests?
