Finding lighting for my birds(button quail) - help!

I give my two pairs of buttons 14 hours of light a day. I give them the week off once every other month.

I don't have much natural lighting in my room. (I plan to move next summer! yay - new & improved button room! But imagine all the buttons in the back seat, lol! Poor guys.)
I want to give them plenty of rest, but don't want to neglect them of light either. Your idea seems keen. -- The book here says six hours of darkness on normal days....so you are on the level my friend, lol
