i HAVE ONLY HAD CHICKENS FOR 4 WEEKS SO HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS... ONE IS I HAVE HEARD THE CHICKENS WONT EAT THE FINE CRUMBLES WELL
.THEY DO SEEM TO BE AT THE BOTTOM UNEATEN BUT I RE FILL THEIR FEEDERS EVERY FEW HOURS.

SOMEONE SAID ADD WATER TO THE FINE FLOUR LIKE CRUMBS TO ME A PASTE AND THEY LIKE IT
..
SOMEONE ELSE, (A LONG TIME CHICKEN OWNER ) TOLD ME CHICKS CHOKE EASY SO THEY CAN EAT BIGGER AND SMALLER FINE CRUMBS BUT ITS BETTER FOR THEM TO EAT THE FINE SO THEY DONT CHOKE..
WHICH OF THESE ARE TRUE?
I AM CONFUSED.

Are you talking about the powdery stuff that collects in the bottom of the feeder along with some of the smaller bits of crumble? It's harder for them to eat that because there's nothing for them to grab with their beaks. I mix it with some water and feed it to them in a separate container. They do love it. As for choking on crumbles, I've never noticed them having any problems like that.
My uncle told me, when I first got chickens, not to over think things too much, and to take whatever I read and what people tell me about chickens as opinions, not the gospel truth. Do research, but use your common sense and your gut feeling and go with what makes the most sense to you. There's lots of conflicting advise out there and it can get really confusing for first time chicken owners. But you'll figure out what works the best for you.
Good luck!

Yes the fine flour like stuff in the bottom of the container....thanks for the help!
