fine sandpaper eggs and loss of feathers

Yes, there are many corona viruses that affect dogs, chickens, humans, and others. Corona is just the shape of the virus and makes up a group of viruses. It may or may not be what your hen has, but testing might confirm it. Mild cases of MG can look like IB.

IB is a virus that spreads through the flock over several weeks, and each survivor becomes a carrier for up to a year. So there is no reasons to separate the hen, since they will all eventually be exposed, and most have probably been exposed when she was. It may relax her more to be with her flock, and hopefully her eggs will return to normal.

She also had, hopefully it is a past tense - a mite infection. Her shells are thin, pale, rough, and watery albumin. She is sneezing.
I have come to the conclusion that my chicken has IB- a type of corona virus. How ironic.
I did gather her egg from a straw nest and that evening I had three bites on my arm. I did remove all the straw and husband made an egg box for her. My other chickens are still sneezing but less. Question is how long do I continue to isolate this girl?

Did you treat her and the chicken housing for mites? What did you use?
If she was not treated, then I would say she still has mites (could be lice) - regardless, the bugs need to go. You can find Permethrin based poultry spray or dust in stores like Tractor Supply or online. Imho, all birds need to be treated, housing needs to be cleaned out and treated as well. Do this in 7-10 day intervals.

If she's eating/drinking/relatively active and not being picked on - I would leave her with the flock, the others have already been exposed to whatever she has.

I did put her with the others last night and boy did they attack her. Today it appears they worked out the pecking order. I dusted her and her bedding numerous times while she was in isolation. My hens have many areas to dust themselves too. I used DE, food grade for her. The sneezing seems to be less.

My Midnight egg today is less rough, so I am encouraged. Hopefully she will fully recover. Thank you all.
