Fingers inbetween?

Okay. so i have a black sex link hen about 5 months old. She has had a red comb and waddles, but no egg song or squatting or any other signs of eggs. Yesterday, i heard that you can put your fingers in between thier pubic bones to tell. i tried that and i got two fingers in between! I was wondering, how many fingers do you need inbetween before thier ready? Is two enough? Also, my other chicken same age, is much smaller but got 1 and a half fingers. Are they ready, and how many fingers?

I was told 2-3 fingers but I am no expert.

The pelvic bones have to be apart = the diameter of the egg that passes through, so... measure the egg?
But, you don't have eggs yet. So I think this test is useless for you!

She will be ready when she lays her first egg.

Just kidding with you..... there really is no way to tell, but because of her age, it should be pretty soon. Be patient, it WILL happen soon!
