Is it prohibited though? I have no idea how my neighbours will feel about my chickens when I get them, but it's legal, so it doesn't matter in the end. That said I don't want to anger them so will be doing what I can within reason to keep them happy

Looks great! My hen house is larger, I can stand up in it but it has a wooden floor. I use the pine pellet stall bedding for horses. Just wet it down about half of a 5 gallon bucket full to get it to fluff up and it makes awesome bedding. I scoop it out an my hen house stays very clean.

It really looks great, my husband built something like this, but the nest box door wasn't on the top, it was the back board and that flipped up. I like your design better though.

You did good, but one major thing is missing--lots of ventilation. Even if there is under-the-eaves ventilation, which I can't see in the photos, you will have lost of issues unless you have much more air flow. Just something to think about. Chickens need loads of fresh air to be healthy and they love to look out windows!

Wow! That sure is a cute coop! You will likely need to add a pop door because you will see over time closing that ramp door will become difficult. The bedding and poo will get stuck in the crack of the hinge part and it wont close. Hinges that open upwards are your best bet with chickens! I learned this the hard way

Also, that thing is built like a rock! There isn't even a crack for air to exchange, looks like you need to cut in some ventilation!

I am putting in mesh screen windows on both sides for additional ventilation. I will trim them in cedar from the fence so they match. Thanks for the suggestions. ET

City ordinances allow 5 hens, I just have some snooty neighbors.
