Finally finished it up. The coop is 4x4 and the run 11x4. There are only 3 hens and they free range when I am home. Coop and Run are fully encased with 1/2in hardware cloth and lined with about 5in of river sand. They seem to like it and laying happily so I am pretty pleased with it. Couple of pics including my dog watching them.

Glad to see that your chickens have a beautiful home now! We're happy you decided to join BYC, and hope to hear more from you!

I'm curious, how long did it take to make? Mine took around 2-3 months, but it was much bigger. (A tractor coop. You can click on "my coop" on my name and see it if you're wondering)

I am glad I joined as well. Some great stuff on here. It took me 2.5 weekends. I found a 4ft x 50ft roll of hardware cloth on amazon for a great price so figured I might as well do the bottom of it as well. BTW that is a VERY nice tractor coop you have

Welcome to BYC!
Pretty sweet little setup, looks nice and secure.
Might need some ventilation in the coop.
Where are you located? climate is important.
Easy to add to profile, then it's always there!

Thank you for thoughts on ventilation. I am in N Georgia so can get pretty warm in the summer. I have 4 holes on the front and both sides and there is no door just an open walk through to the run. It’s also in a shaded area but you have me thinking. I am going to add more As the 3in holes are easy to add. Also thanks for profile tip. I will get it updated as soon as I am back on a laptop

Hey aart I wanted to say thanks for bringing up the ventilation. I decided the best way was to see for myself so went in it and closed the door. Sure enough you were right. Ended up going from 12 holes to 18

The run looks pretty secure... if it IS secure from all predation.... you could just completely open up the front side of the coop.... So the side of the coop that opens to the run is either all open or all wire.
