Fire Ants. *grrr!*

I've read that having "other" ants helps keep fire ants at bay and that using the heavy-duty pesticides kills off the "beneficials" as well as the fire ants. However, until we find a natural alternative to get rid of the fire ants that actually works I'm not sure what else to do. The fire ants are a hazard to everything and everyone on the property and have to go. I wonder if your Safer soap would work on them?
Don't know but I'd sure try!! I despise fire ants!! I also don't know if Safer Soap is just a high-priced version of Joe Blow soap, I onl;y know it counts as organic in our garden so I tried it in our nest boxes against sugar ants successfully. If I were dealing with fire ants, I'd start with a righteous soaking of my 'chicken area' as well as immediate 'people area' with Safer Soap, and probably Dawn dish soap (hey! if it's safe to wash endangered oil-soaked water fowl with, I'll spray it in my yard!!). If it looked to have potential I'd work my way out toward the perimeters of my areas/property. Shoot, when it comes to fire ants I'd consider <controlled> nuclear devices . . .
