For weeks before and after the July 4th holiday we often hear fireworks, including some loud m-80 fireworks that sound like bombs going off. Are ducks affected by the noise?

I have one runner duck who seems off these days. She is still eating worms and bugs, and will nibble at her treats (tomatoes, watermelon, lettuce, peas) but I don't see that her appetite is very strong. I'll see her dip her beak in water, but I don't see her drink a whole lot. She is still preening and foraging and doing her normal duck activities, but she seems a bit changed.

Could this be stress from the fireworks or could she be sick?

My other 2 ducks seem to be un-phased and are acting normally, but she seems a bit lethargic.

Thanks!

Maybe PTSD? My runner went nuts for the 3 nights my neighbors shot off bombs - I mean fireworks. I had to sit in pen with her for about an hour on4th. She has been fine since though. My pekins weren’t phased. Runners are a nervous breed.

Every night there have been fireworks for the last week straight and big loud ones as well. My ducks are chillin' in the run when I go out to lock them up in their house. I have muscovies. Fireworks didn't bother them, but a tarp I put up for extra shade scared them enough to avoid their food and water. Silly ducks!

It could be the heat is getting to your duck. Do they have enough shade, water, etc? Give treats of frozen blueberries, peas, even ice cubes. My birds do not eat as much when the heat is excessive.
