I attempted my first incubation about 3 weeks ago. I used a still air incubator with the temp at 99.5 f and humidity at 45-50%. I didnt know that the temp should be higher until it was already lockdown. This is day 23 and I have 5 happy chicks and 1 more on the way. I know I could have done better, but I am still learning.

How many did you place for hatch?

20 eggs :(

I know it is a horrible hatch rate, but I am still excited about hatching any at all. I will do better next time!

All things considered for a first hatch you did very good, I have a friend who's hatched for years, he'd set 46 eggs and the last time he only got 8.. We found out the problem, he was setting them in stages, opening the incubator like every other day.. I have been setting 6 at a time as that is all that my incubator will hold. How does a still air incubator work?
