Hey guys, I'm posting this forum to aska bout something. My almost a year old naked neck hen, might be broody. Yesterday, she stayed in the nesting box almost all day. She even slept in the nesting box. But, today she free ranged as always and seemed fine. Whenever saw her in the nesting box, she would scream at me and try biting me. Now, she seems fine and is free ranging. So, if any of you know whats going on please dont hesitate to tell me. Also, I was thinking that maybe I should buy fertile eggs online and put them under her and she could be the mother of the chicks. (We have no roosters.) Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I'm thinking of getting breeds I wouldn't find at the store online and have my hen incuabte them. Although, I am a little worried that she'll stop being broody in the middle of their incubation. So, is there any way of keeping her broody?

Oh gosh I don’t know. I’m sorry. I’m going to have to deal with this myself soon. Update me if you can :jumpy

She even slept in the nesting box.
Has she ever done this before?

Some of my birds do this even tho they are used to me taking eggs from under them.

These are the signs I look for before calling 'broody':
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?
If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.

Hi, this is the first time she slept in the nesting box. She does making that clicking noise 24/7. She hasn’t made any other noise. She also does screech when I take her out of the nesting box.
