Hey guys, I FINALLY did it!! After 2 years of personal issues I've come full circle, and I just set 43 cochin eggs from my own ladies. YEAH ME!!
I'm so excited. I've got a new guy in my life and this is all new to him and to have someone be interested in what i'm doing is SO cool. Yeah he looks at me like I'm nuts and has that 'this is all greek to me' expression on his face, but he's unfailingly interested in all aspects of raising chickens. Now, I have to live up to my reputation and remember correctly what i'm trying to do. LOL, what a hoot
I was so bummed because my large cabinet incubator turner wouldn't turn, and i was trying to figure out what alternatives I had for turning. The BF said it sounded like something inside was binding up (I thought the motor?) Then, in a moment of desperation I rattled all the trays and low and behold, one tray was cocked sideways and stuck against the inner wall of the bator. Easy fix, and as of 8pm yesterday, I'm back in business.
I had NO clue how much I missed this until I danced out of the coop last night singing like a fool and so excited that when I got to work i told all my city slicker friends about it til their eyes glazed over. Someone commented that I looked really really happy. Boy did they nail it
Haven't been around the BYC site much in the past 2 years either, but I just knew you guys would understand my enthusiasm!
