First capture in the home made trap.

Kitty was not too happy with me. I made sure I made him uncomfortable, squirt gun, rocked the trap around, and then I let him out. I swear that cat jumped 6 feet in the air from the lid when I opened the top door.

Live traps are nice, as they let you know who is out and about, and it is is someone's pet, they get to go home. The cat was trapped 120 yards away from my coop, in an area I saw a coon a few nights ago.

I do nuisance trapping in my area. one thing i have found is that most of your critters out there dislike mothballs. i have been researching getting into chickens so that being said i am not sure about having them close to the birds. this might be best it you dont let them free range. hope this helps! if you are having problems with specific critters i have a few baits that are target animal specific and generally dont catch others!

Raccoons are what I'm looking for. I double dosed the trap with marshmallows and wet kitty food.

Very similar, but my latch is a bit more of a hair trigger than theirs, and the way I attached my trip bar to the treddle is different. This trap was the inspiration for my build.

That's why you kill them before you open the cage...

Live traps keep you from killing pets that are unlucky or unknowing.
